Catch up on the political news that's being buried by the Trump trials.
The news the past week-plus has not been good for former President Donald Trump. And I’m not even talking about his criminal trial.
Since very few of the following items have broken through the media’s obsession with Trump’s court appearances the past two weeks, let me share with you three really bad things for Trump that you may not have heard about. Plus, several smaller ones.
And then I’ll share one thing President Biden should worry about. (I’d share more, but honestly, he’s had a great couple of months since the State of the Union speech.) But first, the Trump stuff.
1. Nikki Haley is still laying the smack down.
This should be terrifying to Trump, because I’ve not seen Haley say much or do much. But my word, there are a LOT of Republicans still voting for her.
From the story above: Donald Trump Suffers Huge Vote Against Him in Pennsylvania Primary
Donald Trump suffered a blow in the Pennsylvania primary on Tuesday, as tens of thousands of Republicans refused to vote for him despite being the presumptive GOP nominee.
The former president won the primary race in the key swing state with 83.5 percent of the vote, amounting to more than 786,000 votes.
However, Nikki Haley, who ended her campaign for the White House after Super Tuesday in March, still received 16.5 percent of the vote, equating to more than 155,000 ballots.
2. Trump’s fundraising woes continue.
He’s even falling behind his 2020 numbers, and this isn’t good if you’re making the case that “the entire country thinks Biden is an old, dementia dude who’s overseeing a terrible economy and is totally corrupt.”
Take a look at this chart below. It takes a moment to really understand it, but once you see it, you can’t un-see it. (Reminder: Trump lost 2020, even when he was raising more.)
3. The realities are starting to be seen by everyone.
I’ve been saying for a long time that Trump is carrying a paper bag full of water and the bottom is about to fall out, and it appears the regular public is starting to notice.
This will only gain momentum among the general public as it becomes more clear. (Note: if you live in a red state like me, no, you’re not going to notice. But remember, not every state is like yours.)
Never forget that almost every single night, every late-night comedian ridicules Trump. And it’s not just them. In case you haven’t noticed, most of the Hollywood stars also ridicule him. Now, I could care less about Hollywood elites or comedians, and you might not care either… But for much of the public? Check their TikTok feeds and Instagram follows.
The fact is that celebrities carry an inordinate amount of weight in our culture, rightly or wrongly. (Correct answer: wrongly.)
And all these comments from comedians and Hollywood actors will add up. And it could snowball in the coming months.
Already, the betting markets have flipped.
As if the three big items listed above aren’t enough, let me share four smaller things that are not good news for Trump.
First, conservative media may have just lost a key voice.
Gateway Pundit to file for bankruptcy amid election conspiracy lawsuits
Gateway Pundit, the popular far-right blog, is filing for bankruptcy as it faces lawsuits alleging it promoted bogus claims about the 2020 election, its founder announced Wednesday — though he vowed to continue publishing.
Since its launch in 2004, the site has become a prolific clearinghouse for conspiracy theories about the election, school shootings, and other topics, helping to funnel such flimsy stories from the fringes of the internet to the broader pro-Trump right thanks to its substantial audience.
…
Despite its bare-bones layout and small staff, Gateway Pundit consistently ranks among the 20 most-read conservative websites online, according to Howard Polskin, who analyzes conservative media on his website, TheRighting.
Second, Trump is losing the ability to challenge some of these states as he probably hopes to do.
This is important because…
Third, the abortion weight around Trump’s neck is only getting heavier.
Voters will be thinking about more than the presidential race in Arizona and Florida this November. And that’s horrible news for Trump.
Where abortion is on the ballot in November.
Fourth, did you see the election seat flip last month?! In red Alabama?!
As you know, there’s a LONG list of elections that Dems have won since 2018… But you’ve heard me make that point before.
But did you see how much this district swung last month?! 😮😮
Now, let’s talk about one Biden concern, that I’m certain his campaign team has.
The campus protests and arrests are getting out of control. And those things always make people a little unsettled.
Worse, there’s no easy way for Biden to really do anything about them, since it’s mostly states and cities that are acting on the arrests. And the people protesting are younger and so mad at Israel and Biden that Biden has no sway with them.
That’s going to be a complicated issue for Biden in the weeks and months ahead.
Not as complicated as the whole list of things Trump has to deal with, including sitting in court every day, trying to pick a VP nominee, etc.
But the campus unrest, the border situation, and the high price of items will be the biggest weaknesses Biden will face.
As I’ve heard so many pundits say, and I think this is true. There’s not many people that Biden could beat in the election this year. But he’s just lucky enough to be facing the one man who he has beat before and will beat again.
And if you don’t believe me, just tell me how many Biden voters you know from 2020 who have said, “Ah, I’ll just go back to Trump this year.”
On the other hand, scroll through this feed for a while if you wish and you’ll see DOZENS of former Trump voters who are saying their names, recording a video, and sharing their stories. This cannot be popular for them to do, and it does require some courage for sure.
It’s not fun being ostracized — I speak with some experience. 😂🤣
Hey, let’s end on a positive note, since I love you each and every one of you regardless of who you support.
You guys know I constantly harp on unity and healing. And I always talk about on my podcast that most Americans are good!!!
But did you guys see this CRAZY video?! Just insane bravery of people of all races, gender, and probably voting preferences. It’s an image of the strength of our country: when people who may not agree on everything, come together during emergencies to show their common decency, courage, and love.
It’s also beyond harrowing to see. I think if you watch it, you’ll find yourself asking, “Would I have stayed and risked it all to save this life?”
As a reminder, all posts are free, so feel free to share.
