Trump and the GOP are in real trouble, whether they know it or not
Hello, everyone! Hope you’ve had a great week!
Two quick admin announcements before we get to today’s post. I’ve had some new subscribers here (and only here), so if you’re one of those people and didn’t know, I also have two other substacks.
Each week, I cover foreign policy thoughts here mostly by podcast: stanrmitchell.substack.com.
And I also, for that smaller number who might be interested, share thoughts on God and the Bible here.
Now, to the good stuff.
It’s been a brutal week for Team Trump and MAGA folks.
First, you’ve got Republicans FINALLY saying what should be obvious: Trump is going to be convicted. Just watch the clip below. (Don’t forget that Chris Christie served as a prior federal prosecutor who oversaw 130 convictions in public corruption cases.)
Secondly, besides the increasing reality that Trump is in serious legal trouble, his electoral changes are starting to take some bigger hits. In fact, Trump’s memory issues are starting to make bigger media outlets.
This is partly happening because they’re becoming more frequent (and worse). Plus, the Trump campaign has made such big deal and so many frequent references to President Biden’s gaffes that it’s going to be increasingly hard for legacy media to ignore these situations.
Here’s just a sample:
Finally, I wanted to make sure you all saw this report, which didn’t exactly make the news like I think it should have.
The NRA seems to be struggling of late. Of course, historically speaking, the NRA has has been one of the pillars in the past that has helped elect — and keep — Republicans in office.
But that might not be the case for next year’s elections in 2024. Take a look at this article: NRA revenue in freefall as member dues plummet.
From the story:
The National Rifle Association is bleeding money and members, according to a financial audit obtained by CREW. Last year, the organization saw its worst fundraising totals in more than a decade, fueled by member dues that have fallen to lows not seen since the early 2000s. The fall has been so swift that the gun organization’s income from its members has been halved in just six years, while its legal fees have remained stratospheric.
Chart from the story:
None of this is good news for Trump. But I don’t expect next week to be any better. His daughter Ivanka will be testifying and he’s going to be one step closer to completely losing his business empire.
I’ve written about this in the past, but slowly but surely, the true reality of the situation is falling into place.
A very bad week for Trump.
But a very good one for President Biden, including this piece of news: The US economy grew at a blistering pace in 3rd quarter, growing at a 4.9% annualized rate.
Plus, the UAW strike has ended, putting almost 40,000 people back to work (at much better wages).
The Israel/Gaza conflict remains a threat for Biden, but I think he’s smart enough not to veer too much into dangerous territory on that, politically speaking.
Love and peace,
Stan R. Mitchell

P.S. Don’t forget to check out my books. I’ve written 12 of them: a CIA/Marine sniper series, a detective series, a private investigator series, an action-packed Western, a motivational self-help book about President Obama, and two realistic war novels: one about World War II and one about Afghanistan. You can find all of these books on Amazon.
