That debate was a disaster for Biden. Does it change things?
In case you’ve been in a coma or up in the mountains without wifi the past day, there was a big debate that happened last night. And the debate didn’t go well for President Biden.
The below video has a pretty good summary and the questions that some Democrats are beginning to ask (and some are strongly pushing back against).
Watching the debate myself, it seemed like Biden OVER prepared. He was trying way too hard to squeeze in too many facts and points and tripping himself up in the process.
Biden got a little stronger by the end, but he fumbled the closing and missed so many opportunities.
As expected, Trump told an unbelievable number of lies, and he wasn’t fact-checked by the moderators.
It came out afterward that Biden had a cold from his recent trip to Europe. But it’d have been nice if he had mentioned that. (Because the post-debate panic was real.)
Media outlets are following this panic closely.
But there’s already a growing pushback against this, and some of that pushback began immediately following the debate.
Alex Wagner: “You were out there getting a chorus of questions about whether Biden should step down. There is panic that has set in among people who have watched this debate who are Democrats, people who are strategists, and some even inside Democratic campaigns. Do you think it’s unfounded?”
California Governor Gavin Newsom: “Well, I think it’s unhelpful, and I think it’s unnecessary. We’ve got to go in, we’ve got to keep our heads high — and as I say, we’ve got to have the back of this president. You don’t turn your back because of one performance. What kind of party does that? It’s been a master class. More than 50 million jobs. That’s eight times more than the last three Republican presidents combined. The only thing the last three Republican presidents have in common is recessions. Democrats delivered. This president has delivered. We need to deliver for him, at this moment. With all due respect, the more time we start having these conversations, going down these rabbit holes, it’s unhelpful to our democracy, the fate and future of this country, and the world. They need us right now to step up, and that’s exactly what I intend to do.”
It does seem as though the poor performance may be rallying Biden supporters.
And based on the social media posts I saw, it seemed that after initial despair, most Democrats are pulling together pretty hard.
In fact, Biden had his highest fundraising hour.
This debate could prove to be like Trump’s charges and convictions. It might fire up the base and provide some much-needed energy for the campaign.
It also appears focus groups of undecided voters liked Biden over Trump last night.
One other bright spot for Dems is the campaign has a much stronger bench than Republicans do, when you look at the number — and quality — of surrogates out there.
But if Dems are going to win with Biden, the focus must shift from Biden to the issues, such as those listed below.
What do you guys think? Will someone talk to Biden about stepping aside? Will Biden possibly consider it? Did last night change your opinion (or those of your friends)?
Let me know below! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
And thanks, as always, for your support!

P.S. Don’t forget that I also put out a weekly podcast about defense news and looming hotspots, which includes some motivation, wisdom, and history.
I've also written twelve fast, exciting books.
Finally, I also write a faith blog about God and the Bible. (As a child, I was wounded badly by the church and left it to study other religions, before returning to the faith of my roots.)
