Hi friends!
Wanted to do a quick update for you all.
The over-all, broad point is that momentum seems to be continuing in Kamala Harris’s direction.
1. She’s raising more money.
2. The crowd sizes are larger for her.
In fact, she had 12,000 show up for her in Las Vegas last month; Trump had 6,000 this weekend.
3. Even voter registrations are more-than leaning her way.
And while Harris continues to say she’s the underdog, some big-name folks are beginning to weigh in with the opposite.
In fact, one of the larger names in the news biz — Jennifer Rubin — at The Washington Post speculates that Harris could win North Carolina, and put the entire election to bed quickly in November.
Her column, If Trump loses North Carolina, it could be an early night — and curtains for GOP, had this to say:
North Carolina is where felon and former president Donald Trump’s political career might end. If so, it might be an early election night, leaving less room for Trump’s election denial shenanigans.
It was no accident that Vice President Kamala Harris’s first two rallies after her smashing debate victory were in North Carolina. Two rallies, with an estimated total of 25,000 people attending, were raucous and enthusiastic affairs, rekindling Democratic prospects of a win in the state.
Democrats hope that momentum determines the presidential winner and even changes the contours of election night. North Carolina polls close early, at 7:30 p.m. Moreover, state law allows processing of mail-in votes well before Election Day, making an early count possible. (Some states, including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, cannot start processing until Election Day, which could result in delays of several days before a winner is determined.) Should Harris win North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes, Trump’s chances of victory diminish greatly. He would need a virtual sweep of other battleground states (and likely all of the blue-wall states).
Four years ago during the last presidential election, Biden-Harris had their closest loss in 2020, losing the state only 1.3 percent.
Regarding this year’s polling, Rubin writes this:
Polling averages indicate the race is a dead heat. A WRAL News poll this month showed Harris with a narrow lead. (“Harris leads Trump by 3 percentage points — a close result in this key battleground state, but one that represents a substantial improvement for Democratic hopes in North Carolina from the last WRAL poll, in March, that found Trump leading by 5 percentage points.”)
Rubin also points out what a victory there might mean for Harris (and the country).
An early-evening victory in a state Democrats have not won for 16 years would reverberate through the country, potentially depressing GOP turnout in Western states and diminishing the appetite for stunts to refuse certification of results in states such as Arizona and Georgia (which would not be determinative if Harris holds the blue wall and wins North Carolina).
Trump’s actions don’t seem to be helping himself right now.
And his VP pick is making some mistakes, too. (Such as this: J.D. Vance Admits He's Telling Racist Lies for Attention)
But Trump seemed to make an even bigger mistake on Sunday, saying he “HATED” Taylor Swift in all caps.
And his base did not take that well.
You seriously have to read some of their responses, because it’s like they know it’s sabotaging his chances of winning — some even claimed it made him seem non-Christian.
Links to their replies here: MAGA Is Straight Up Freaking Out After Trump’s New Taylor Swift Post.
Trump has even been pushing this line of attack. (Which was written about all over the place as incorrect: Fact check: Trump falsely claims Harris is talking about bringing back the military draft.)
On the plus side, Trump has Elon Musk’s support. And Elon has been posting about a hundred times a day on Twitter/X, rallying support for Trump and criticizing the plans and qualifications of Harris.
That will certainly help some, but if turn out shows up for Dems, this one might not go Trump’s way again this year.
Because if Frank Luntz can’t spin it, then you know you’ve got real problems.
Words of encouragement:
Let’s end the post with some words of encouragement, because I know that life is hard and sometimes, you just need to hear something that will lift you up.
I always like to share some verses from the Bible, or quotes that touch on the Bible/Jesus, because my Christian faith has become such a source of strength and wisdom and calm for me during the past couple of years, since losing my Mom and now worrying an awful lot about my Dad and his serious memory problems.
I’m betting you have something really challenging going on in your life, as well. (And if you don’t, I can guarantee it’s coming. That’s how life goes.) So, I hope by sharing some of these, it might encourage you to get into the Bible yourself. Because I think it’ll change your life, if you let it.
And, I always like to end each post with this one:
All posts are free, so feel free to share. (And in that line of thinking, it seems the social media sites throttle down my posts when they have a link to Substack, so if you could forward this to a person — or two — who might be interested, it’d sure help me a lot!)

I've also written twelve fast, exciting books.
Finally, I also write a faith blog about God and the Bible. (As a child, I was wounded badly by the church and left it to study other religions, before returning to the faith of my roots.)
NC has one of the largest populations of Veterans in the United States.
With what happened in Arlington and the continued talk denigrating of our Nation. I am curious to know the impact that is having on Veteran’s Vote for trump.
